The #1 Oregon Ducks defeated the #20 ranked Arizona Wildcats in a Pac-10 showdown the day after Thanksgiving. Oregon and Arizona renewed their rivalry that became even more heated last season, when Arizona students prematurely rushed the field before their team eventually lost in double overtime to the Ducks. This season, the matchup was not as close. Perhaps it was the help Autzen Stadium provided the Ducks, or perhaps the last home game for the winningest senior class in Oregon's history. Heisman frontrunner (Along with Auburn's Cam Newton) LaMichael James had over 125 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns to propel the Ducks to victory, after returning from a dirty helmet-to-helmet hit that was flagged by safety Adam Hall. Arizona started off with a impressive first half, ending with a 19-14 lead. Oregon's offense however had an amazing 3rd quarter, scoring 20 points. True freshman Josh Huff had a 86 yard run for a touchdown, and Oregon's defense kept the Wildcat offense ineffective. Senior leaders Brandon Bair, Casey Matthews, Spencer Paysinger and Kenny Rowe each had big days in their Senior nights. Quarterback Darron Thomas struggled in the 1st quarter, but bounced back to throw for 3 touchdowns in the air and one rushing. Oregon is 1 win away now from a date in Glendale January 10th, and tied their all-time record with 11 wins in a season. Again, opponents tried to fake cramps on defense to slow down Oregon's offensive tempo. Despite this, Oregon took advantage of clever playcalling and better stamina than the Wildcats. Next Saturday the Ducks challenge the Beavers in Reser Stadium while ESPN's College Gameday will be in attendance, following the Ducks for the 3rd time this season. Josh Huff summed it up best after the game with the quote "Get money, time to eat". We will see if the Ducks will be feasting on the Beavs soon enough.
